About PEI
Prince Edward Island is surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and red sandstone cliffs. The maritime province is the smallest in the nation in both land area and population (excluding the territories). 135,000 "Islanders" presently live in the province with Charlottetown and Summerside consisting of a large portion of the population.
Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is called the "Birthplace of Confederation" after the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference which led to Confederation.The City of Charlottetown is a small community of over 32,000 people located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island.
Summerside
Summerside is the second largest city in PEI and a principal municipality for the western part of the island. The town was officially declared a city in 1995 and has a population of around 15,000.
